African American and Hispanic seniors are twice as likely to suffer food insecurity as white seniors. Other groups at greater risk include disabled seniors, younger seniors (under the age of 69), seniors who live with a grandchild, seniors who live alone, and seniors who live in the South.
We support seniors.
We partnered with World Central Kitchen to help evaluate their Restaurants for the People Program, which provided supplemental meals for low-income seniors, and served as a model for California’s Great Plates Delivered program
We helped advocate for California CalFresh: Simpler for Seniors bill, that would ease the process of enrolling on SNAP for seniors.
We created guides to help walk SNAP participants through the process of ordering groceries online for delivery using SNAP.
